Survival Swim Scholarship Program: Outer Banks NC 2018 I
Our mission is two fold: Education & Scholarships. Once a family has the Water Safety Education, they may need a means to skill their child. This is when the SSF Scholarship program steps in. Swim Safe Forever knows that what is best for our children is not always possible within our budget. In an effort to provide more children in our community the gift of survival. Swim Safe Forever provides partial scholarships for survival swim lessons based on financial need. Financial need is determined by family income in association with federal poverty guidelines. You can help by donating to this project.

About This Project:
Our goal is to reach as many families in need as possible with scholarship funds. Our local chapter has been fundraising since 2014 and providing families as best as we can. Our largest accomplishments to date have been through springtime fundraisers called Hope Floats. Through these events and other fundraising projects we were able to provide several families with 50% funding of survival type lessons. This meant we were able to reach families and skill children who otherwise had no financial means of obtaining lessons. A child who knows how to save himself in an aquatic environment is a child who survives! This is the difference between life and death.
Funds raised go directly to pay for survival type swim lessons. Families apply through the scholarship program (www.swimsafeforever.org/scholarships). A scholarship committee reviews each scholarship application and determines the amount of financial support that family qualifies for and if funds are available. The Scholarship Committee Chairmen gives the final approval/denial. SSF also has a very thorough application process for instructors. This ensures that each child receives lessons that actually provide survival type training from a competent instructor.
