Foster Kids Aging Out
When a foster child "ages out" of the foster care system, their world is turned upside down, again! Aging out is defied as reaching the maximum age that a youth can remain in the foster care system. When a youth reaches this age, they are basically told to leave and shown the door. Some youth will receive assistance with housing but unfortunately not all youth will. This is where Giving Kids Hope Foundation steps in to assist them.

About This Project:

Michelle Hill
Because my husband and my childhood best friend are products of the foster care system, I understand the day-to-day difficulties that foster care kids face. My hope is to empower each child for a better chance at a successful and productive life.
Project Description
We will step in and assist with securing safe and affordable housing. Paying for security deposits and setting up utilities. We also provide furnishings, pots and pans, utensils, sheets and towels and we also stock their kitchens with food. The assistance doesn't stop here either. We also will mentor the youth about independent living and continue working with them for several years to give them the best possible chance at living a life of independence.
Project Needs
We need funds for apartment deposits, utility deposits, furnishings, sheets, towels, pots, pans, dishes and also groceries. We also stay with them and mentor them until they are securely living on their own.
Project Schedule
We are trying to stay on schedule to meet certain deadlines. We want to secure the apartments and furnishings needed for youth aging out of the system very soon.
Project Beneficiaries
Our beneficiaries are the foster youth we serve. These youth will be getting a fresh start to independent living. A fresh start that most of us take for granted because when the average youth moves out of home, they have the assistance of friends and family members, however a foster child doesn't have that assistance. This is when Giving Kids Hope Foundation steps in to help.
